Vision Statement The San Mateo-Foster City School District educates and inspires students to live, lead and learn with integrity and joy.

Mission Statement The San Mateo-Foster City School District, working with our parents and community, will educate all students to high challenging academic standards and prepare them to be socially responsible contributing members of our community. 

Strategic Direction 1 Educate all Students to achieve their potential through a rigorous program that builds a solid academic foundation and challenges students to think critically and communicate effectively. 

• Goal 1.1 Students will make measureable progress in mastering grade level Common Core standards. 

• Goal 1.2 Students will learn through differentiation.

• Goal 2.1 Students will think creatively and pursue innovative solutions. 

• Goal 2.2 Students will utilize evolving technology that is targeted to support their learning. 

• Goal 2.3 Students will develop collaborative skills that require active participation. 

Strategic Direction 2 Inspire all students to go out into the world as active, well-rounded, socially responsible citizens who positively impact today and the future. 

• Goal 3.1 Students will be supported by community and parent resources. 

• Goal 3.2 Students will engage in programs that develop an ongoing healthy lifestyle. 

• Goal 3.3 Students will benefit from a school community empowered to foster social and personal responsibility. 

• Goal 3.4 Students will effectively resolve conflicts in a respectful manner. 

• Goal 3.5 Students will develop a deeper understanding of self and others.

Statement of Beliefs As a District we believe that . . .

education provides a solid foundation for a lifetime of learning in an ever-changing world 

all students must be continually challenged and encouraged to work beyond their current level 

our students’ prior experiences and cultures must be considered in order to bring meaning to their learning

we provide an educational foundation that ensures student success and a seamless transition into higher education 

we provide highly trained, motivated, and competent district personnel to support student learning 

we value parents and community, along with district personnel, as active partners and encourage participation in all areas affecting our students’ education 

we exercise fiscal responsibility efficiently using our financial resources and strategically ensuring our long term stability
